Title: Phineas Gage

Author: John Fleischman

Genre: Non-Fiction

Phineas Gage worked as a railroad worker 150 years ago, and ended up with a terrible head injury.  He was a foreman that worked with explosives, which lead to terrible ascendant which left a hole in his head.  Despite his horrible injury he shared his as he traveled the world.  In the end, his story changed the way everyone looked at the understanding of the brain.

The theme of the book is about how Phineas Gage survived during a severe ascendant.  I think it was both lucky and unlucky.  I think it was lucky because if the rod would have hit his head in a different area he could have died.  I think he was unlucky because there is many different points of views of the story.

I didn’t really like this story because it has a lot of words I don’t know, and it made the story less attractive to me.  Also, the story went on about the brain and I got really bored because facts about the brain bore me. I would give this book three star, because there were some parts that I didn’t connect to.  I would recommend this book to kids and teenagers who like learning about the brain, and want to be a doctor when they are older.
